Hypnosis for Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a wonderful time of awe and inspiration. What could be better than hearing your baby’s heartbeat for the first time? Or feeling them kick? Pregnancy is also a time of joyfully anticipating all of the wonderful “firsts” that lie ahead – gazing into your baby’s eyes; watching them learn how to crawl, to walk, to talk.

At the same time, pregnancy involves much physical change. Prenatal discomforts like lack of sleep, back pain, and swelling – these can be challenging. And there are a number of emotional changes, too. It can be a time of many questions and concerns – What does it mean to be bringing a child into the world? How will parenthood affect your beliefs, your work, your time? Was conception difficult? Are there unresolved emotions left from prior childbirth experiences? Do you feel pressures from family, friends, partner, yourself?

By addressing these and other issues, hypnosis helps improve the quality of your pregnancy – both emotionally and physically.

Hypnosis is ideal for:

  • reducing stress, fear, and tension
  • improving sleep
  • increasing confidence
  • resolving inner conflicts
  • enhancing general health and well-being
  • releasing the negative emotions of past experiences/ belief systems
  • creating feelings of empowerment and strength

Specialty Sessions for During Pregnancy:

  • Breech Repositioning
Your baby will do a lot of moving around throughout pregnancy and childbirth. Sometimes a baby will get comfortable in a breech position – when they are situated butt-down rather than head-down. Hypnosis is a non-medical, painless way to encourage the baby to rotate into the proper position. Consider this technique if your doctor/midwife has told you that your baby is breech and you are around 32-33 weeks of pregnancy or beyond.
  • Natural Induction/ Birth Preparation -
This special session includes a 20 minute massage that focuses on acupressure/reflexology induction points followed by hypnosis to encourage your body to commence birthing.

Birthing starts when your baby and body are ready, but any stress or concern or fear can hinder the start of birthing by affecting you physiologically – by producing an environment in your body that is not conducive to birthing beginning.

The due date is a common cause of stress. Even though only 4-5% of women give birth on the actual due date, if it goes past (as it commonly will do), there is generally a sense of disappointment and perhaps distrust in the body and the natural process. In addition, stress levels typically increase when there is talk of medical induction.

Hypnosis facilitates relaxation, reduction of stress caused by the due date issue, as well as release of other fears and limiting thoughts. It also allows you to regain trust in your body and get in touch with your powerful, birthing instincts – to take back a sense of control by finding peace and comfort in relinquishing control.
  • Second-Time Moms (or 3rd or 4th…)
While holding your newborn baby in your arms, the actual childbirth can seem very far away. However, birthing a child is a transformative experience and what happens during that time is imprinted in your subconscious. If there were aspects of your child’s birth that you wish would have happened differently, these types of thoughts can create feelings of guilt, remorse, anger, disappointment and a variety of other emotions. During subsequent pregnancies, these feelings as well as memories of the prior birth may surface.

In this session, the imprints and emotions are addressed on a subconscious level, giving you the opportunity to re-experience the birth in a positive way. This allows you to release and reframe and heal – to enjoy your current pregnancy and birth without residual resentments or regrets.
